Finding a good virgin coconut oil bulk supplier is harder than it looks. Plenty of sellers can send you a nice photo and a spec sheet. Fewer can send the same clean, fresh-smelling, low-moisture oil every month, in the packing you need, with proper documents, at a price that doesn’t change every time you ask. And some of what gets sold as “virgin” isn’t virgin at all.
We’re a virgin coconut oil bulk supplier for retail brands, private label packers, health food companies, natural cosmetic makers, hair oil brands and distributors around the world. This guide explains what to expect from a bulk VCO supplier, the spec you should insist on, packing and order sizes, how pricing works, the paperwork, and the warning signs that a supplier isn’t what they claim. It also sets out exactly what we offer and how to order from us.

What “Bulk” Means for Virgin Coconut Oil
Bulk virgin coconut oil isn’t usually shipped like refined oil. Refined coconut oil goes in 20-ton flexitanks without a second thought. Virgin oil is a premium food and cosmetic ingredient, often going to buyers who repack it into jars, so it usually moves in smaller, cleaner units.
| Packing | Net per unit | Roughly per 20 ft container | Typical buyer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Food-grade drums (steel or HDPE) | 180 to 200 kg | About 80 drums, 14 to 16 MT | Packers, manufacturers, distributors |
| IBC totes | About 900 kg to 1 MT | About 18 to 20 MT | Larger packers and factories |
| Jerrycans | 20 to 25 L | Depends on palletizing | Small brands, bakeries, cosmetic makers |
| Flexitank or ISO tank | About 20 MT | One per container | Very large packers with bulk storage |
| Retail bottles and jars, private label | 200 ml to 5 L | Depends on format | Brands that don’t want to fill themselves |
When people search for a virgin coconut oil bulk supplier, they usually mean drums or IBCs by the container load. That’s the bulk of what we ship. We also handle smaller trial orders and private label for brands who want finished retail packs.
Who Buys Virgin Coconut Oil in Bulk
- Private label packers and supermarket brands filling their own jars.
- Health food and supplement companies using VCO in capsules, blends and functional foods.
- Natural and organic cosmetic brands making creams, balms, soaps and lip care.
- Hair oil brands, especially in South Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
- Bakeries and premium food makers who want real coconut flavour. Our guide to coconut oil for bakery and confectionery covers that use.
- Handmade soap makers who want “virgin” on the label. See coconut oil for soap making.
- Importers and distributors reselling into their own markets.
The Spec You Should Get From a Virgin Coconut Oil Bulk Supplier
This is the spec we contract on. Use it as a benchmark when you compare any virgin coconut oil bulk supplier, including us.
| Parameter | Our specification |
|---|---|
| Appearance | Clear, water-white liquid above 25°C, pure white solid below |
| Odour and taste | Natural fresh coconut, free from rancid, sour or smoky notes |
| Free fatty acids (as lauric) | 0.2% max |
| Moisture and volatile matter | 0.1% max |
| Insoluble impurities | 0.05% max |
| Peroxide value | 3.0 meq O2/kg max |
| Iodine value (Wijs) | 6 to 11 |
| Saponification value | 250 to 265 |
| Lauric acid (C12:0) | 45 to 53% |
| Total plate count | Under 0.5 CFU/ml |
| Coliforms, E. coli, Salmonella | Absent |
| Shelf life | 18 to 24 months, cool and dry |
The two lines that separate a careful supplier from a careless one are moisture and FFA. Virgin oil isn’t refined, so whatever happens during production stays in the oil. Fresh coconuts, quick processing and proper drying give low numbers. Slow handling and wet oil give high ones, and the oil sours on your shelf. Our full virgin coconut oil specification guide explains every line.
How Our Virgin Coconut Oil Is Made
Our virgin coconut oil is made from fresh, mature coconut meat, not copra. The meat is processed soon after the nuts are opened, either by drying it gently at low temperature and cold-pressing, or by pressing out coconut milk and separating the oil. The oil is filtered and dried to low moisture. Nothing is refined, bleached or deodorized, and nothing is added.
That process is what gives virgin oil its fresh taste and its white, clean look. It’s also why virgin oil costs more than RBD oil. It takes more nuts, more labour and more care. If you’re deciding between the two, our comparison of RBD coconut oil vs virgin coconut oil helps.
What a Good Virgin Coconut Oil Bulk Supplier Should Give You
Here’s what we think you should expect, and what we try to deliver.
A real certificate of analysis for every batch
Not a generic sheet. A dated certificate with a batch number, showing FFA, moisture, PV and micro for the oil you’re actually getting.
Samples before you commit
Any serious virgin coconut oil bulk supplier will send samples. Test them in your own lab or an independent one, and smell them yourself.
Consistency
Your customers notice if one jar smells different from the last. A good supplier keeps the process the same batch after batch.
Clear packing and labelling
Food-grade drums or IBCs, clean and sealed, with batch number, production date and best-before date on each one.
Full export documents
Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, certificate of analysis, and health, Halal or organic certificates where needed. Our guide to documents required to import vegetable oil lists them.
Honest communication
If there’s a delay, a price change or a problem, you should hear about it straight away, not when the vessel is late.
Certifications
Depending on your market, you may need some or all of these from your virgin coconut oil bulk supplier:
- Food safety: ISO 22000, HACCP and GMP. We work to all three.
- Halal: standard on our virgin oil.
- Organic: available on request from certified sources, with transaction certificates per shipment.
- Kosher: available for selected lots.
- Non-GMO: coconut isn’t genetically modified, and we confirm it in writing.
The International Coconut Community publishes the standard most of the coconut trade uses for virgin oil, and the Codex Alimentarius sets the general food standard for named vegetable oils. We’ll confirm our oil against whichever standard your market follows.
How Bulk Virgin Coconut Oil Is Priced
Virgin coconut oil doesn’t follow the crude coconut oil benchmark closely, because it’s made from fresh nuts by a different process. It’s usually priced at well over double crude oil, and more for organic or certified grades. What moves the price:
- Fresh coconut prices at origin, which follow harvest and weather.
- Process. Centrifuged oil usually costs more than cold-pressed.
- Certification. Organic adds a premium.
- Packing. Drums, IBCs and retail packs all price differently.
- Volume. Full containers get a better price than part loads.
- Freight and terms. FOB, CFR or CIF, and how you pay.
For the wider market picture, our guide to the coconut oil price per ton shows how coconut oil prices have moved. For a firm VCO price, ask us with your volume and destination.
Order Size, Lead Time and Payment
Minimum order
For bulk virgin coconut oil, a full 20 ft container of drums or IBCs is the most cost-effective order. For new customers and smaller brands we can discuss trial orders and mixed loads, for example virgin and RBD oil in one container.
Lead time
It depends on volume, packing and certification. We confirm the lead time with every offer, and we’ll tell you honestly if a date is tight.
Payment
We work with TT and letter of credit. Our guide to letter of credit vs TT payment explains how each protects you.
Inspection
Independent inspection at loading is available on request. Many first-time buyers use it, and we’re happy when they do. See our guide to pre-shipment inspection for edible oil.
Private Label Virgin Coconut Oil
Some brands don’t want to fill jars themselves. We can supply virgin coconut oil packed in glass jars or PET bottles in common retail sizes, with your label, ready for shelves. Tell us the sizes, closures, label artwork and carton format you need, and the markets you sell into, so we can check labelling rules. Private label usually needs a bit more lead time for packaging.
Warning Signs When Choosing a Virgin Coconut Oil Bulk Supplier
Because VCO sells at a premium, it attracts fraud and shortcuts. These are the red flags we’ve seen most.
- Price close to RBD oil. Real virgin oil can’t be made that cheaply. Either it’s not virgin, or it’s not real.
- Yellow solid oil. True VCO sets pure white. Yellow usually means copra oil or a blend.
- No smell, or a smoky smell. No smell suggests refined oil. Smoke suggests copra.
- No batch certificates. Just one old spec sheet for everything.
- No samples, or samples that don’t match the shipment.
- Vague answers about the process. A real virgin coconut oil bulk supplier can explain exactly how the oil is made.
- Pressure to pay a large deposit fast, often to a personal account. Our guide on how to spot a fake vegetable oil supplier covers the common scams.
Storing Bulk Virgin Coconut Oil
Once the oil reaches you, a few simple habits keep it fresh for its full shelf life.
- Store drums and IBCs out of the sun, ideally below 30°C.
- Keep containers sealed until use, and reseal partly used ones.
- Keep water out completely. Moisture is what turns virgin oil sour.
- If the oil is solid, warm it gently, below about 40°C, before filling. Our guide to the coconut oil melting point explains why it sets around 24°C.
- Use first in, first out.
Customs and Shipping
Virgin coconut oil normally ships under HS code 1513.19, the same line as refined coconut oil, even though it isn’t refined. Our coconut oil HS code guide explains why. Shipping to cold destinations means the oil arrives solid, which is normal and doesn’t affect quality.
From Fresh Coconut to Your Container
Here’s roughly how an order moves through our side, so you know what to expect.
- Fresh nuts in. Mature coconuts are delivered and opened. Freshness is checked, because old nuts give high FFA.
- Processing. The meat is processed the same day, by low-temperature drying and cold-pressing or by wet milling and separation.
- Filtering and drying. The oil is filtered clear and dried to low moisture.
- Testing. Each batch is tested for FFA, moisture, PV and micro before it’s released.
- Filling. Oil is filled into clean, dry food-grade drums, IBCs or bottles, sealed and labelled with batch and dates.
- Inspection and loading. Independent inspection if you want it, then container loading.
- Documents. Invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificates of analysis and origin, plus Halal, organic or health certificates as needed.
Questions to Ask Any Virgin Coconut Oil Bulk Supplier
Before you sign with any virgin coconut oil bulk supplier, ask these. Good suppliers answer quickly and clearly.
- How is your virgin oil made, step by step?
- How soon after opening the coconut is the meat processed?
- What are the FFA, moisture and peroxide value of the current batch?
- Do you test micro on every batch?
- Can I see a dated batch certificate and get a matching sample?
- Which certifications do you hold, and can I see them?
- What packing do you use, and is it new and food-grade?
- What’s the lead time from order to loading?
- What payment terms do you accept?
- Will you agree to independent inspection at loading?
Comparing Quotes From Different Suppliers
If you have offers from more than one virgin coconut oil bulk supplier, compare them line by line, not just on price.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Same spec? | A lower price for higher FFA or moisture isn’t a saving |
| Same packing? | Drums, IBCs and bottles price very differently |
| Same Incoterm? | FOB, CFR and CIF include different costs |
| Same certifications? | Organic and other certificates add cost |
| Same payment terms? | LC and long credit cost more than TT |
| Price validity | Some offers last days, some hours |
Once everything is on the same basis, the real differences become clear. Very often the cheapest offer has a weaker spec or hidden costs.
Building a Long-Term Supply
If you sell virgin coconut oil all year, it pays to set up a regular supply rather than buying spot each time. Brands that work with one virgin coconut oil bulk supplier on a schedule get steadier quality, easier planning and usually better prices. We can agree monthly or quarterly shipments, hold your packing and labels ready, and keep your spec the same from one shipment to the next. Tell us your yearly volume and we’ll suggest a schedule that fits your sales and storage.
Manufacturer, Trader or Broker?
Not every virgin coconut oil bulk supplier is the same kind of business. It helps to know who you’re dealing with.
- Manufacturers run their own processing plant. They control quality directly and can usually tell you everything about the process.
- Exporters and traders buy from one or more plants and handle packing, documents and shipping. A good one adds real value: consistency, logistics, and one point of contact for several products.
- Brokers connect buyers and sellers but don’t hold stock. Some are honest and useful. Some are a layer of cost with no responsibility, and a few are scams.
Whichever type you use, ask how quality is controlled and who’s responsible if a shipment is off spec. A reliable virgin coconut oil bulk supplier will put that in writing.
After the Oil Arrives
Our job doesn’t end at loading. Once your oil arrives, we can help with handling advice for your climate, with paperwork questions from your customs broker, and with any quality concern you raise. If a test on arrival doesn’t match the certificate, tell us with the results and the sampling details and we’ll look into it straight away. That kind of follow-up is what you should expect from any virgin coconut oil bulk supplier you plan to work with for more than one container.
Shipping Virgin Coconut Oil Worldwide
We ship virgin coconut oil to buyers in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, Asia and Oceania. Transit times depend on the route, from about a week to nearby Asian ports to five or six weeks for longer routes. For cold destinations, remember that the oil will arrive solid. That’s normal for virgin coconut oil and doesn’t affect quality. Warm the drums or IBCs gently before filling. If you’re new to importing edible oil, our guide to documents required to import vegetable oil is a good place to start, and as your virgin coconut oil bulk supplier we’ll walk you through the documents for your country.
Why Buy From Us
We’re not the only virgin coconut oil bulk supplier out there, so here’s what we put on the table.

- Real samples before you order, matched to what we ship.
- Batch certificates for every lot.
- Flexible packing: drums, IBCs, jerrycans, bulk tanks and private label bottles and jars.
